For some reason I've always loved the super duper wedgy Esprits. They're completely unapologetic about being a giant doorstop. I love how low they are and I love that they have small 4-cylinder engines.
I'll tell you what though, i probably wouldn't love owning one. Unless i was rich and had a personal mechanic. Then i'd be down.
This one was at a local car show, while the one below lives close to my girlfriend.

This one lives in my Garage.
Mine is an 89, so it is a rounder "Stephens" Esprit. It is also a Turbo, not an SE, which means it has EFI, but lacks the complicated chargecooler system. Probably the closest you can get an Esprit to a Camry in terms or reliability. .
They aren't as bad as they are made out to be maintenance wise. The earlier cars have inboard brakes, which suck. Find a good one tough and the costs won't be too out of hand.

Rad, thank you for sharing.
Truth be told, i like the look of the newer, rounder cars almost as much. It's just a fundamentally great design.

I like the first pic - intense wedge-y goodness in that beautiful '80s cocaine white! In my opinion, it's the most attractive generation of Esprit.

Those hard angle ones are cool too. But shows their age a lot. No that I don't enjoy tooling around in older cars. I'd love an earlier car as well. Some of the really early ones were pretty sparten, but once you get into the 2.2l and newer they get nicer. The interiors of all of the Guigaro Esprits are a bit kit-ish though.
The Stevens look nearly new even today. Many people are shocked to find out that my car is so old. The door handles give it away some, but still the shape is very modern.

Black 80's turbo esprit is still the best looking car lotus ever made... as long as you dont have to get in one.
